Flutter Harp (see video)
1990
(see full schematic)
Made from found metal resonators, 3/16-inch threaded rod, pvc, pine dowels,
nylon line, piezo microhones and washers. Instrument is played by releasing
washers (moths) which cascade (flutter) downward over threaded rod (harpoons).
Resonators may be played with mallets. Sounds generated by fluttering moths
are colored by metal resonators. Instrument is presented in standing installations
nd as part of live pieces where the instrument acts as its own score.
