Flutterbye Five (see video) December 1994 (top) . Made from found metal resonators, 3/16-inch threaded rod and washers. Instruments are played by releasing washers (moths) which cascade (flutter) downward over threaded rod. Instruments may be played like an hour glass. Sounds generated by fluttering moths are colored by metal resonators. Instruments are presented in standing installations and as part of audience participation pieces during live performances. .
