Bernhard Gander was born in1 969 and took his first musical instruction (guitar, drums, saxophone, piano) in 1981. From 1988-93 he studied piano and conducting at the conservatory in Innsbruck eventually leaving because of a intense interest in experimental music. In 1994 and 1995 he studied electro-acoustic music at Studio UPIC in Paris and since 1996 he has been a free-lance composer living from commissions and scholarships.

"mein Zimmer hat dünne Wände" ("my room has thin walls") is for tape alone takes its title from the (bad) circumstances - loud neighbours - under which it was compose. Despite an absolute musical concept it can also be interpreted according to its title. There are quiet sounds and sound-developments which are accompanied and overlapped by stronger ones. Sometimes sounds are quite similar to those of a real environment. Those different sounds and soundfields give the piece its formal shape. The piece was composed 1997 at the Swiss Center for Computermusic.
